Get 'Snap' Happy at the 2018 Users Group Meeting

Posted by Brooke Milligan on Jan 30, 2018 8:53:37 AM

What’s that social media app all the millennials in your office are talking about? You know, the one where you receive a picture and frantically try to absorb it all in 10 seconds before it disappears into oblivion? This handy app is called Snapchat and it’s become a bit of a phenomenon. Forget the old days of clogging up your text message inbox with random pictures you received from a friend, and forget about having to email photos because they’re too large to send via text…you can now send photos quickly and efficiently through Snapchat. And thankfully this app has made some improvements recently that now allow you more time for viewing before the picture or video disappears into that black void in cyberspace. To make snapping even more fun, Snapchat has a variety of filters, text options, drawing tools, and stickers that help you create funny and more personal photos.

By Roger P. Levin, DDS

The last two months of the year are always a whirlwind. You’re trying to tie up all the loose ends for this year while looking ahead to the next. It’s like living in two different time periods. And, on the top of that, with all the holiday-related activities going on at the end of the year, it can be tempting to put the practice on autopilot and pick up the pieces in January.

But you don’t want to do that because then you’ll end up getting off to a slow start.

Here are four things to do now that will jumpstart your January:

The ViewPoint to Edge Cloud Transition

Posted by Michelle Haupt on Oct 13, 2017 10:46:03 AM

Dr. Stuart Robb takes pride in keeping his office running on schedule 100 percent of the time. His schedule is worked out so perfectly that he even advertises to prospective patients that each appointment will start on time. For years, Dr. Robb relied on ViewPoint to manage his schedule. Earlier this year, Robb Orthodontics made the transition to Edge Cloud, the second time his team has done so.

Dr. Robb first became familiar with Ortho2 ViewPoint while working at the University of Chicago. When he took over his current practice – offices in both Lake Forest and Highland Park, Illinois – he had been using two different practice management systems, but chose to continue with ViewPoint.

The Hidden Patients in Your Practice

Posted by Brooke Milligan on Sep 19, 2017 10:37:29 AM

By Roger P. Levin, DDS

According to a recent AAO survey, 27% of ortho patients in North America are adults. This begs the question… what are you doing to turn parents into patients? Imagine if you could convert 1 in 4 parents to become patients. That would be a nice bump in starts.

While not all parents are candidates for ortho treatment, many in fact are. They’re seeing firsthand what a great job you’re doing with their child. If their teeth aren’t as straight as they would like, they’re thinking about what ortho treatment could do for their smile.

So how do you get parents to take the next step?

Influencing Consumer Trust and Behavior with Online Reviews

Posted by Brooke Milligan on Jul 27, 2017 8:38:46 AM

By Mary Kay Miller

The local marketing landscape has changed dramatically in recent years. The Internet is no longer a secondary component of a successful marketing plan; nowadays a successful local business must put online branding at the forefront of their marketing focus. Leading the way when it comes to Internet marketing are your online reviews and reputation.

I understand that taking time out of your busy patient schedule is a hassle to accumulate reviews. Unfortunately, there is no easy way around it in a consumer driven society, which is constantly looking for verifiable proof of quality and expertise when making buying choices.

The Associate Decision - 3 Questions to Ask

Posted by Brooke Milligan on Jun 21, 2017 9:37:33 AM

By Roger P. Levin, DDS

Most practice owners think about bringing on an associate at one time or another. This is a major decision that will impact team dynamics, doctor income, customer service, referring doctor relations, and potentially the ownership structure of the practice. If you’re at a point in your career when you’re thinking about hiring an associate, here are three questions to ask:

Beware the Threat of Complacency

Posted by Brooke Milligan on May 24, 2017 12:28:49 PM

By Roger P. Levin, DDS

Orthodontics is a relationship business. If you provide great customer service while delivering excellent results, then parents (and adult patients) will tell their friends and family about their experience. I find that most orthodontists and team members do a good job of making parents and patients feel connected to the practice.

But it’s not always easy. There are days when everything goes wrong––patients are late, a co-worker goes home sick, the computers crash, etc.––and it takes every bit of training, know-how, and composure to maintain that high level of customer service.

Texting is the Answer!

Posted by Brooke Milligan on May 5, 2017 9:47:09 AM

By Nancy Hyman

In the never-ending challenge of contacting parents, adult patients, or potential patients, consider a transition to texting for quick responses and results! Your target audience is never too busy to check their cell phones throughout the day and many workplaces allow cell phone use, taking the place of leaving messages on home answering machines or the inconvenience of receiving calls at work. Only 41% of over 21,000 households surveyed use a landline in addition to a cellphone per The Centers for Disease Control.

Utilize the Ortho2 texting feature to reach out to pending parents/adult patients and un-appointed Kids Club members. Prospective patients, mined from returned dental referral cards, will be texted via the practice cell.
